There’s a range of different prizes in Pick 3. There are two factors which dictate how much you can win - your wager amount and your play type. The biggest payout is available if you play a Straight, as you can win 600x your wager amount. This is better than most other versions of Pick 3 in the U.S., which offer $500 for a $1 play.
The odds of winning a Straight a 1 in 1,000, and your chances are even better if you choose a different play type. The table below shows you the prize that is associated with each play type, and your odds of winning:

All prizes are fixed amounts. To guarantee that they can always pay out the full prize to every winner, the Iowa Lottery sometimes declares a particular number combination a ‘sell-out’. This happens when there have been so many sales of a certain three-digit combination (perhaps a popular triple such as 777), that a liability limit has been reached and the lottery may not have the funds to pay out everyone if that number came up as a winner.
Pick 3 prizes must be claimed within 90 days of a drawing. You can claim prizes up to $600 from lottery retailers in Iowa, but for larger amounts you will have to go to one of the district offices in Clive, Storm Lake, Mason City or Cedar Rapids. Alternatively, you can claim prizes of any value by mailing your winning ticket to the Iowa Lottery, 13001 University Ave, Clive IA 50325-8225.
